“Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.”

Oscar Wilde

Writer

I have been a writer for over nine years. I have written short stories, poetry and novel-length stories. I have written for the University of Connecticut Daily Campus, the University of Connecticut Spoon University chapter, and I am a reporter for the WHUS Radio News Department. I have had my work featured in the UConn Free Press. I am currently working on my first manuscript which I hope to publish as my first novel.

Blogger

My blog, I Chose the Pen, is a home for writers and non-writers alike. I share my personal thoughts and experiences to help anyone with their journey in either writing a book or getting through life in general.
The first week of each month, I post something resembling inspiration to start off your week. The second week, I post Writer’s Desk posts (where I talk about writing opinions and advice). The third week, I share my own writing or I talk about my personal life. The fourth week, if possible, I post a book review under my book review section “Written Wandering.”

Dreamer

I have never been quite sure about anything in my life. I just knew that storytelling in any shape or form was a way to escape reality, and that is something I cherish; so because of that, the one dream I have in life is to become a published author. Join me on this journey to accomplish that dream.

About

My name is Daniela Doncel, and I am a writer. I am on a glorious adventure to seek out the most colorful worlds my mind has to offer and to write those all down. I am a lover of the sea, fairy tales, and books.

Currently, I am in college studying French and Journalism with a concentration in creative writing. I am also on the terribly difficult task of trying to publish a novel. I am here to tell you about all of my experiences as a writer, and hopefully, inspire you to be the most creative person you can possibly be. I Chose the Pen

Welcome to my blog!

Here, I talk about writing tips and advice and my personal writing journey. I offer inspiration for my fellow writers out there. I write personal posts about any goals I set for myself and the experiences that come with them, opinion posts on broad topics, and book reviews. I also post my own writing from poetry to prose to short stories.

I hope you stick around to see what I have to offer in terms of inspiration.

Don’t forget to be creative.

Fairy Tales

I woke up hating myself today. Nothing new. It’s actually quite common. But every time, it’s like my heart is being ripped open by evil little sprites for the very first time. Each one is filled with another disgusting emotion that bogs down my heart, a weight that is not seen on the scale but […]

How to Make a Writer’s Day

The most common response I get when I tell someone I’m a writer is a dying out conversation. This is usually from people who aren’t writers or readers, therefore they don’t really know how to engage in conversation with one who is passionate about writing. The common questions like “Oh, what do you like to […]

Written Wandering

“I wandered everywhere, through cities and countries wide. And everywhere I went, the world was on my side.”

Roman Payne

When I read, I feel like a traveler, wandering through the towns and forests and thoughts and feelings of every story. In my wandering, I have my own thoughts, so this is where I jot them down.

Welcome to Written Wandering: home to my book reviews.

Although I’m no professional, I’m certainly a lover of books, so this is a little hub where I can have a chat about my thoughts of any recent reads.

Join me on my written wanderings where we can have nerdy talks about awesome books.
