“Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.”

Oscar Wilde

I have been a writer for over nine years. I have written short stories, poetry and novel-length stories. I have written for the University of Connecticut Daily Campus, the University of Connecticut Spoon University chapter, and I have had my work featured in the UConn Free Press. I am currently working on my first manuscript which I hope to publish as my first novel.

My blog, I Chose the Pen, is a home for writers and non-writers alike. I share my personal thoughts and experiences to help anyone with their journey in either writing a book or getting through life in general.
Mondays, I post inspiration to start off your week. Wednesdays, I post Writer’s Desk posts (where I talk about writing opinions and advice). Fridays, I share my own writing or I talk about my personal life.

I have never been quite sure about anything in my life. I just knew that storytelling in any shape or form was a way to escape reality, and that is something I cherish; so because of that, the one dream I have in life is to become a published author. Join me on this journey to accomplish that dream.

My name is Daniela Doncel, and I am a writer. I am on a glorious adventure to seek out the most colorful worlds my mind has to offer and to write those all down. I am a lover of the sea, fairy tales, and books.

Currently, I am in college studying French and Journalism with a concentration in creative writing. I am also on the terribly difficult task of trying to publish a novel. I am here to tell you about all of my experiences as a writer, and hopefully, inspire you to be the most creative person you can possibly be. I Chose the Pen

Welcome to my blog!

Here, I talk about writing tips and advice, my personal writing journey, and I offer inspiration for my fellow writers out there. I also do personal posts about any goals I set for myself and the experience go through it, opinion posts on broad topics, and occasional book reviews. I also post my own writing from poetry to prose to short stories.

I hope you stick around to see what I have to offer in terms of inspiration.

Don’t forget to be creative.

I’ve run out of tears, the way you run out of ideas, the way a block hits the artist It comes out of nowhere, but keeps you stuck, until you grow numb to the feeling But the thing is Sadness is still sadness, with or without tears At least with writing, you can force yourself […]

Resources for a Writer

As we all know, the internet is just FILLED to the brim with chuck loads of information. Us writers have our happy little community in the universe that is the internet, but since we have so much to write about, some of the information can get lost. Written Wandering

“I wandered everywhere, through cities and countries wide. And everywhere I went, the world was on my side.”

Roman Payne

When I read, I feel like a traveler, wandering through the towns and forests and thoughts and feelings of every story. In my wandering, I have my own thoughts, so this is where I jot them down.

Welcome to Written Wandering: home to my book reviews.

Although I’m no professional, I’m certainly a lover of books, so this is a little hub where I can have a chat about my thoughts of any recent reads.

Join me on my written wanderings where we can have nerdy talks about awesome books.
